i'm in wisconsin and the heat and humidity has been insane. it rains almost every other day and it's been very hot

I'm in part of the country that tends to get a lot of rain through the year (NW Oregon), but it doesn't feel nearly as humid as parts of the midwest I've been to. I've visited Missouri and Texas, and in the summer it can get very humid there. I had one of my cameras with me for one of the trips, and the lens would fog up when I went outside, which doesn't happen in Oregon. After a few minutes, the camera would acclimate and would be okay.

We tend to get fairly dry in the summer though, since it doesn't rain as often in the summer.

So how is everyone enjoying their summer so far?

I don't "Enjoy" summer time. I can't handle heat and huminidy so I
stay in the AC all day and night. I'm not complaining. I'm grateful to
have it. 4th of July was nice. I was in NYC for the fireworks display.
    What a show!

The whole damn country is having a heat wave. My heart goes out for people without AC. Perhaps this "GlobaL Warming" has some validity to it? California was on fire for months and now earthquakes? Someone or something really pissed off mother nature. ;-)

We've had some rather cool days here recently too, and a few lightning/thunder storms with some heavy rain. It hasn't been as hot here as it usually is this time of year.

My part of the country has actually been a bit cool for this time of year. I do feel bad for the people in the areas with heat waves though. I don't like hot weather much myself. :/

I think it's fairly well accepted that global warming is a real thing. The issue is whether it's man-made or natural. They say the earth has naturally gone through cycles of cold and hot weather throughout its history.

we dont really have much evidence because we only started making records of weather conditions fairly recently in comparison to how long the earth has been here and we have been here.

    we really know nothing.
and when we think we know something by digging [btw, cant dig far either] or whatever, it gets proven wrong.

yes, i have to use two of them... this is my normal one... "wkitty42" and "waldo kitty" are #1, the sysop account... can't use #1 on fidonet for obvious reasons ;)

What obvious reasons? I use my one and only account on Vertrauen (this one) to post on FidoNet and other networks without any problem. What am I missing?

"wkitty42" is my consistent email address on all domains i use... most people online (not just the BBS world) know me by this... "wkitty" is short for "waldo kitty"... i try not to cross contanimate the two with my personal account and i cannot have two emails and two names on one account... i had thought to use the "callsign" field in sbbs but that seems to just be informational (can't login or post with it) plus it links the two accounts in a manner i'm not comfortable with...

in FTNs we also have what is known as "comment reply" in addition to
the normal "reply"... that's where i can hit a key to reply to a
message you wrote and the message is addressed to the person you wrote your's to... in other words, my reply is a comment to your reply and they're both addressed to the another person...

    That sounds software dependent.

it kinda is, i guess... it first showed up with JAM message bases, AFAIK...

I haven't seen it myself, though to be sure, I rarely use online interfaces, haven't really since the early 1990s. :)

yeah, QWK and other older tech don't offer it as a feature... you have to do it manually...
