Lots of inventors have been wrong about their inventions. The slinky was meant to stabilize equipment on ships. Frisbees were pie containers. Play-Doh was made to clean wallpaper.
The GIF guy was wrong about how it's pronnounced. :)
yeah he was wrong from the start. 'graphics' = hard G
Acronyms are pronounced by convention, not based on the pronounciation of the words that inspire the initialism. For example, CIM (Common Information Model) is pronounced "sim" not "kim".
The inventors pronounced GIF as "jiff", then in my book, "jiff" is right. No debate about it.
The Qt inventors apparently switched the pronounciation from "cue-tee" to "cute" at some point. So I'm trying (hard) to follow suit.
They guys that create the game make the rules. <shrug>
