Just wanted to take a moment to give a toast to 'eC' for his outstanding work on the Synchronet Web interface!
I can't believe how smooth and flawless the forum page runs. I love the Reddit like voting (though no one uses the feature it seems, it's the "V" key folks!), and thread combining for easy reading.
I honestly don't know what I'd change about it. Now the stupid fTelnet is still giving me issues, I have no idea why (assuming my proxy isn't working for some reason), but I just love love love the work you do.
OK, I'm done. Thanks dude,
-Andy

I like eChicken's web interface too. I like how it looks, and I think it works well.
The voting isn't really specific to his ecweb interface though - Voting is a feature that was added to Synchronet for 3.17, and echicken simply added a feature to his web interface to allow voting. Synchronet's stock message reader on the telnet interface allows voting too.

Haven't seen you vote on too many messages there Nightfox... I understand that sbbs does it which is why I said "it's the "V" key folks!" in my original post.

I like fTelnet a lot and have a lot of respect for Rick's work on it. On
I think he did a good job with it. Before I found fTelnet, I remember there being another Flash-based BBS client, FlashTerm I think, which didn't work as well as fTelnet.

He's using it on at least one machine, and has started contributing some changes and fixes to my project, which I appreciate.
I used flashterm with my BBS back in the day. It was pretty good at the time. IIRC fTelnet started with Flash as well, then Flash became a fallback if the HTML5 client wouldn't work. fTelnet has always seemed generally faster, and I think a little more faithful to ANSI-BBS and CP437.

Woah, I wouldn't go that far, but thanks anyway!
I like fTelnet a lot and have a lot of respect for Rick's work on it. On the other hand, it's a bit fussy to troubleshoot and can be a bit of a thorn in my side.
What's happening when you try to use it?

What is the difference between vert.synchro.net and web.synchro.net?
Is web.synchro.net set up just for ecwebv4?
I haven't seen web.synchro.net before, and I'm curious why the 2 different sites (web.synchro.net and vert.synchro.net)?
I see "Redirecting to Server..."
and that's it. doesn't connect. I'm guessing it's not getting to the ws/wss thing portal or something.

I do not, never have, and probably never will accept money for BBS efforts. I do this for fun and don't want to feel beholden to anybody in that way.

Actually I've voted on most of the polls I've seen posted on Dove-Net.. I'm not sure what you're trying to say though. Does it make a difference to you whether I vote on polls or not?

when i was running my various services i had people donate every month. i still felt bad about it even though it went into an acct that only was for the server bill. you become obligated to people and then you dont have 100% control to stop or change what you are doing if you have a conscience. ---

I see "Redirecting to Server..."
So, WSS is for clients connecting via HTTPS. Looks like you don't have that set up.
I can connect to port 1123 on your system externally, and the "Redirecting to server" message you see in fTelnet is generated by your WebSocket (WS) service, so I would guess that's at least running and accepting connections.
So your WebSocket service seems unable to connect to your telnet server. Unless told otherwise, it tries to connect to localhost on whatever port your telnet server is configured to listen on (in sbbs.ini).
Does your telnet server bind to all interfaces, or just one? Can you telnet to port 23 of localhost from the same machine your BBS is running on?
