• Where do I get ntvdmx64

From Rixter@VERT/RICKSBBS to All on Wednesday, June 05, 2024 12:32:47
Where do I get this with installer and instructions on how to use it with synchronet to run 16 bit door games over a s bbs installed on a 64 bit computer running windows 10. I found some references to it on github but could not figure out how to install it.myself , yesI was expecting an installer. Lol. I also have dos box and dosbox x. I understand how to run those for the local experience, but want to run them over the bbs for others to enjoy. Is this possible? Could I execute a door with something in sbbscfg like dosbox ..\xtrn\teos\teos %# if any one has succeeded I would love to see examples. Thank you for your reply.

The installer is packaged and released here: https://mendelson.org/ntvdmx64.html

You want to download/use the "CCPU verson".

No, dosbox and its forks are not useful for running BBS doorgames.

For some reason, all of your message text was intended with a the quote (" > ") prefix. Something is wrong with the method in which you're entering messages.

As for any message related to "Com 1", that means the program is trying to use the UART (and not FOSSIL) for communicating with the BBS client/user. Either configure the program to use FOSSIL/int14h instead, or change the setting in SCFG to use "UART" for the program's I/O method.

This is all documented pretty well:

I registered it in 2010, sent in payment and got a registration code.. I remember going to Gameport:
    https://www.gameport.com/bbs/planets.html

But soon after that, I started to see people saying they were becoming unresponsive and hard to get a registration code from them. Their web site is still up though and has pages to register Planets: The Exploration of Space, LORD, and some other doors. Maybe you can try contacting them first to make sure you can still register it.

You don't need to run anything through a batch file.

Synchronet for Windows comes with its own virtual UART / FOSSIL driver. https://wiki.synchro.net/monitor:sbbsexec

A UART is the physical serial/comm port/device. A "virtual UART driver" creates a software virtual UART for DOS software to see/talk to as if it's a talking to a physical UART.

I may have missed that, but it doesn't explain the complete lack of
quoting, or even trying to. That's more of a "concept" thing.

require some serious corrections. Sometimes I miss characters on
the web interface, especially the "runes" one. In SLMR, not so
    much. ;)

Yeah... I don't even bother with a web interface, it's not what a BBS
    is, to me.

If I didn't like MultiMail so much, especially that it's native Linux,
I'd be using SLMR too. That was my everyday driver a few decades ago!
    :-)

... Gone crazy, be back later, please leave message.

what if you accidentally move your
cursor to the quoted area, pressed
enter to go to a new line, and started
typing there? I think I have seen
message editors get confused like that
and just keep adding >'s to newly typed

webv4 doesn't do "live" quoting or any kind of real time mangling of a message you're composing. You click the "quote" button, it wraps and quotes the reply-to message and pastes it into the text input, that's it. You hit enter on any line at that point, you get a new blank line.
