• Due-Date Abortions in NY

I have a hard time giving credit to Andrew Cuomo, and today it's got even worse.

From what I understand, and I haven't found a very complete article on it
yet, Andrew Cuomo, along with some other loving NY lawmakers, signed a bill legalizing abortions for women right up to their due date.

In the past, I've heard people argue that "abortion is murder," and I've
heard the phrase "late term abortion," but this is the most sickening
abortion bill I've ever heard about.

How much more liberal do we need to get with abortions before 10 year olds
can be aborted legally? Is Andy gonna sign off on that one too?

I was all proud of that gimpy, coke-faced sob until I read about this.

Yeah I got no words. Did you also hear about the one in IA they can
abort even if there is a heart beat detected at 6 weeks.

True, sort of. Abortions after 24 weeks may only be carried out if the life or health of the mother is in danger. This is extremely rare after 24 weeks as the fetus is usually viable and can be delivered in most cases. It can also be
performed if it is decided the fetus is not viable and will not survive outside the womb upon delivery.

In the past, I've heard people argue that "abortion is murder," and

In my experience, some conservatives want to protect the life of a child up to
birth, after birth, screw 'em, they should pull themselves up by their bootstraps and get a job if they can't be fed.

I think of myself as a right-leaning libertarian. I used to ask some ultra-conservative friends how they could be anti-abortion while also being anti-government-assistance for women who have kids that they cannot afford
and against the teaching of birth control in schools.

They could never answer this in a manner that I felt like they'd actually answered the question.

While I find it objectionable, I am also not a woman and will never, ever
be in their shoes when it comes to making such a decision. So, I really
don't feel like I have the right to tell them they can or cannot. It is between them and their God, as far as I am concerned.

    Hello Aaron,

I have a hard time giving credit to Andrew Cuomo, and today it's got even
    worse.

He was elected to a second term, so he must be liked by a good
number of New Yorkers. Maybe not everybody, but certainly a healthy
    lot of them.

From what I understand, and I haven't found a very complete article on it
yet, Andrew Cuomo, along with some other loving NY lawmakers, signed a bill legalizing abortions for women right up to their due date.

Medical/health decisions are best left between doctor and patient.
Not legislators, most of whom know very little about medicine and
    health.

In the past, I've heard people argue that "abortion is murder," and I've
heard the phrase "late term abortion," but this is the most sickening abortion bill I've ever heard about.

It is not an abortion bill, but a health issue. Who should make
the decision as to who should, or should not, be allowed to have
a certain medical procedure? And what kind of medical procedures
should be allowed to be performed by doctors and others?

I am not a woman. As such, I will never have to make a decision
as to whether I want to have an abortion. But who am I to say
what a woman wants? Who am I to say what is in her best interest?
I am not a doctor. I cannot advise her of what she should, or
    should not do.

How much more liberal do we need to get with abortions before 10 year olds
can be aborted legally? Is Andy gonna sign off on that one too?

He should. No 10-year-old child should be forced to have a baby.
Especially if they were raped by an adult. What kind of a sick
society would force youngsters to have a baby? Not even the
Taliban in Afghanistan are that perverted.

Rape is a crime of violence, not passion. When a woman is raped,
regardless of age, she is taken to a hospital and cleansed, with
samples taken to match the perp who raped her. As such, if she
was inpregnated by the person who raped her, she would no longer
    be pregnant.

But what if her father raped her? Or her uncle? Or brother?
Some parents would force their children to have the baby, just
to keep themselves out of prison. Can't really say I'd blame
the rapist in that regard. But wouldn't it be better for law
enforcement to arrest those who are rapists, and protect those
who have been raped? You know, place the children in foster
care, and make sure they have the best medical care that can
    be provided for them.

I was all proud of that gimpy, coke-faced sob until I read about this.

We should all stand up and applaud Andrew Cuomo.
This country needs more people like him.

Here's that knee-jerk outrage that people are so fond of.

Would you be outraged if the government decided that you could be legally murdered? Like maybe you don't shovel your sidewalks in the winter, so you're
a threat to old folks who walk up and down the street, so those old folks
have the legal right to abort you.

I've got these neighborhood kids who blow cigar smoke in my face, thereby threatening my respiratory health in a serious way; can I abort them?

That's not what I said, but that's a very Jim Acosta way of twisting it

More governors like him could help us drastically reduce the population, thereby reducing the number of people who are suffering.

I believe that down syndrome is considered a serious health defect which Dr Andrew Cuomo has approved for birthday abortion.

It's pretty simple. It boils down to having control of YOUR body. If a woman wants to have an abortion, that's her right, as it's her body. I figure conservatives,
who are all about personal freedom, should realize this.

I've got these neighborhood kids who blow cigar smoke in my face,

No, that is a disproportionate response.

People have been charged and convicted of battery for purposely blowing cigarette smoke in someone's face, however.

Hey, you get it. That's exactly the right way to think about it.

"Don't like abortion? Don't have one!"

I'm with you and feel that women should have the right to choose whether or not to terminate a pregnancy. However, I can easily imagine the counter-arguments to that slogan:

"Don't like murder? Don't commit one!"
"Don't like pedophilia? Don't do it!"
    "Don't like plural-marriage? Don't have one."
    "Don't like beastiality? Don't keep pets." :-)

You can see where I'm going. I think pattern of that argument works better with undisputably victimless crimes:

"Don't like drugs? Don't do them!"
"Don't like alchohol? Don't drink it!"
"Don't like pornography? Don't view it!"
