Speaking of single malts, I see a bottle of Balvenie Fifty is up for
grabs in Vancouver for $33,500 Canadian. They make note that it isn't
the most expensive ever sold and state that a bottle of Macallan 64
scotch sold at Sotheby's auction in New York in November 2010 for
$460,000 USD.
Those are both really old distillations.... and much more than I'd even
dream of spending on anything, too.... :)
However I see another hit at https://www.thedrinksbusiness.com/2014/09/man-pays-64k-for-shot-of-maca llan-whisky that claims the most expensive was sold at auction for $628,000 USD in Hong Kong. They also mention that a Los Angeles entrepreneur bought a $64,000 shot of Macallan 64 Year Old which is
around 3 times the cost of a whole bottle of Balvenie Fifty.
When I do the math it's a little less than twice the cost of the whole
bottle of the Balvenie Fifty.... ;)
Here is a nice picture of Macallan 64; https://drinks-dvq6ncf.netdna-ssl.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2014 /03/Macallanweb.jpg
I guess some people have money to burn.... ;)
I think I'll be sticking with Glenlivet.
Yes.... and I with my Macallan 12... :)
