I was wondering if that quail family ever showed up in your neighborhood....

Actually it was more of a flock of them and it looks like they might have found
greener pastures, sort of speak. I still see quail in the neighbourhood but haven't seen them in the yard since last spring when we first talked about it.
Before that it was almost a daily thing.

Right. There has been quite a bit of construction going on in the neighbourhood in the last couple of years which I am blaming for their shyness since last spring.

Has it really been a whole year since we talked about them....?

It was sometime last May when we first talked about their disappearance in my very little part of the world. Back then I thought it was because they were roosting. I am not sure when we last talked about it but it probably was last June-ish when they didn't show up with their chicks. :::sigh:::
