• Why I don't like sysops

From Daryl Stout@1:19/33 to SEAN DENNIS on Wednesday, April 03, 2019 10:45:00
    Sean,

Instead of contacting me about any issues, he does this. I wonder if Al SD>realizes that unlike him, the rest of us have lives and treat this as a SD>hobby?

Or like ham radio...we think it's an obsession <G>. It's like, do you [Sysop/Ham Radio Operator] take this [BBS/Ham Radio Rig] to be your
    lawfully wedded spouse?? <G>

Plus, the Sysop may have other things in his life outside the BBS or
ham radio right now, such as family or medical issues. Sean, I know you
and I have both, as we share the fact that we're hams and Sysops. :) By
the way, Tim Grooms is also a ham and a Sysop.

Oh, I don't care if anyone hates me. I've been doing this for the better pa SD>of a quarter-century and people like Al here come and go like turds in a SD>toilet. ;)

Sort of like the truck with the business name of "Turd Burglar", and
it's motto was "I'm here to steal your $h!+". <G>

Besides, Sean...if you're the moderator of the echo, you have the
right to say what stays and what goes. If the Sysops don't like it, they
can drop the echo from their BBS.

    Daryl

There's plenty of lids in this side of the woods too.

This was a problem on several points: I wasn't told about potential issues I could have corrected nearly immediately; the evident lack of attention given to the fact that I don't run Linuxnet; being accused of harassment when I brought this up; and just being a general dumbass.

"I think I'm a great fit for Dumas and Dumas!"

    *eyeroll*

I brought this up in here to prove that my attitude problem towards certain people is generally warranted. I don't try to let a hobby give me a case of the fantods anymore but every once in a while a special case pops up.

It's done and over with now. For now. There will be someone else coming along one of these days. :D

Speaking of BBS, I switched my system back to MBSE. I unfortunately had a lot of issues with the ArcaOS system. I never got around to recommissioning the Linux server and I'm glad I didn't now. Score a point for procrastination caused by the lack of a hand.

Speaking of hand, it looks like the flexor tendon in my right pinky is shot. I can move the pinky enough to use it for typing but I can't straighten the finger out. On April 22 I am seeing a hand surgeon about the possibility of surgery to fix the pinky or if we should just let it be. Not being in great shape might just cause the surgery to cause more issues than it would fix. But I am out of the hand brace and am using "buddystrips" (Velcro pieces with a special anti-sweat fabric on one side) to keep the pinky attached to my ring finger on the same hand.

While not feeling like a malcontent, I am thankful to be alive and worry about silly things. The alternative could be worse...

    Later,
    Sean

You have been flaming me all afternoon in email and on the Networks. Like I said in my final email to you, move on dude.. You don't like sysOp's no one likes you. Get over it.. I have been doing this stuff off and on since 1986

Ahhhh c'mon... lets put this way. Noawadays, when new users who call my BBS elect to ues the "Page Sysop" feature, I break into chat and I'm accused of being a bot. I'm not real. What can I do to prove I am real? Aside from confessing my self-grooming habits?

Am I not a friendly Sysop? With the ALT+F fake line noise and randomly changing users's LORD status or running the Tradewars maintenance program so the Ferrengi destroys the top player's trading corporation?

    Hello Daryl,

    Hi, Sean...

There's plenty of lids in this side of the woods too.

    So, I've seen.

I didn't know Tim was a ham. I should start asking people...

He lives in Mayflower, about 25 miles northwest of Little Rock. He's
    just southeast of Conway.

This was a problem on several points: I wasn't told about potential issues I SD>could have corrected nearly immediately; the evident lack of attention given SD>to the fact that I don't run Linuxnet; being accused of harassment when I SD>brought this up; and just being a general dumbass.

That's Gert Kofoed Andersen's network...as are PascalNet, JustaXNet,
    and SysopTech Net, among others.

"I think I'm a great fit for Dumas and Dumas!"

Reminds me of a joke where the guy went to the office to address the
new CEO, and thought his name was pronounced "dumb ass", but it was "doo
mah" (French). When the secretary walked in, and addressed him by his
proper name, this guy slithered out, and the CEO said "What a dumb
    ass"!! <G>

    *eyeroll*

That's about the only form of exercise that some seem to get. :P

I brought this up in here to prove that my attitude problem towards certain SD>people is generally warranted. I don't try to let a hobby give me a case of SD>the fantods anymore but every once in a while a special case pops up.

I quit doing the weather nets on ham radio, because after 28 years, I
got burned out. I can give further details in netmail if you want.

It's done and over with now. For now. There will be someone else coming SD>along one of these days. :D

    Probably sooner than you think.

Speaking of BBS, I switched my system back to MBSE. I unfortunately had a l SD>of issues with the ArcaOS system. I never got around to recommissioning the SD>Linux server and I'm glad I didn't now. Score a point for procrastination SD>caused by the lack of a hand.

I know you're still recovering from that wreck...hope you get better
    soon.

Speaking of hand, it looks like the flexor tendon in my right pinky is shot. SD>I can move the pinky enough to use it for typing but I can't straighten the SD>finger out. On April 22 I am seeing a hand surgeon about the possibility of SD>surgery to fix the pinky or if we should just let it be. Not being in great SD>shape might just cause the surgery to cause more issues than it would fix.

    Good luck with that.

But I am out of the hand brace and am using "buddystrips" (Velcro pieces wit SD>a special anti-sweat fabric on one side) to keep the pinky attached to my ri SD>finger on the same hand.

    That's some good news.

While not feeling like a malcontent, I am thankful to be alive and worry abo SD>silly things. The alternative could be worse...

You got that right. Life's too short to let the small stuff bother
    you.

    Hello All.

It's well-known what I think about some sysops in the community. Here's something I want to share with you all. The following message, which was accidentally posted in my network, Micronet, and was not meant to be ostensible, showed up. This person had sent in an application to join my network and this is what he thought (it's refreshing to know the truth when the
poster doesn't realize how he screwed up)...

I signed up for MicroNet a week ago, never heard from my Hub, until last night when I sent him an email asking WHEN I was going to get in. He said I was already in.. I set up everything today, did a ARREAFIX got no response! Did a FileFix got no response.. SEnt him an email GOT NO RESPONSE! This guy is supposed ot be the #2 guy in teh net?? Jeez... I sent him a LinuxNet app a week ago, he says he never got it. I sent off an app for JustaXNet a week ago I never got a response..
You really gotta love these guys.. Don't take the job unless you can spend an hour or so a day to do it! Jeez, my board has been connectigin to his board now every hour since 12 this morning. It connects it has sent my test messages, but i don't see them on your board so they are probably sitting in his bad echo folder since his AREAFix probably didn't work! Jeez!! And the head honcho Sean wonders why people hate him?? Because he surrounds himself by people who don't care! Oh well I vented... Thanks...

Yes, I do. I live in Limestone, Tennessee (an unincorporated area in between Greeneville on the west and Jonesborough and Johnson City on the east). I have no horses but I do occasionally have mice in the shed.

It's a large 12x20' shed built locally by a Mennonite family that delivers their sheds all over the US.

Sounds nice! I have a friend who did something like that for his land by a local lake. It looked like a studio apartment on the inside. I was amazed at the idea and craftsmanship put into it! I think I have a few pictures on my phone....lol
