    VERSION 4 - MARCH 29 2020
    -------------------------

With some newfound free-time, here comes a minor update. Stay safe
    everyone...

    - From now on, D'Bridge will be released in both Single-Line and Multi-
Line versions. The reason is that Single-Line uses slightly less memory
and the vast majority of installations do not use more than one modem
or BBS dialup "node" on one computer.

    - AutoPoll has been removed. This will return at some point in the future.
If you absolutely must have this, please let me know. Please use your OS
native task-scheduling and DBUTIL to schedule polling. (For example, the
command DBUTIL NORMAL POLL 1:229/426 will generate a "Normal" flavour
    poll for my system)

    - Match AKA in packet file in Config-Packet/Mail is removed, the system
will always match the proper AKA per outgoing Netmail packet.

    - "Lastread file" is removed as the vast majority of legacy BBS software
does not mishandle 1.MSG. Please let me know if you need this back.

    - A fix for outbound call statistics which could potentially cause
problems when D'Bridge has been running for long periods of uptime
    unattended or restarted.

    - Another fix for incorrect statistics potentially causing a buffer-
    overrun or other weird problems.

    - A very minor fix for the way dialing is handled on 56k modems.

    - Fixde a potential memory-overflow problem for Hudson/GoldBase.

    - Slight code cleanup and modified overlay/cache values.

    setup screens for large setups.

    - Minor bug fix for file transfers in the dialup modem terminal.

    - The FTSC product code list has been refreshed.

Yup, that was version 4.0, written in Java. :-)

It *did* have the added benefit of at least having people talk about it.

So no is the answer? I just looked at the available downloads and they are clearly windows executables? So I am left a bit confused on DM's response, but maybe that was the intent.

Sorry about that; it was a somewhat-inside joke. There's was a time, long ago now I assume, that D'bridge v4.0 was announced (here) to be a forth-coming cross-platform open-source project written in Java. I was just ribbing Nick about that. :-)

My official answer is that a Linux port is in the works but it will likely be a long time before it ever gets done. Whether I port the existing code or do a rewrite from scratch will involve a lot of effort.

Could someone use dosemu for the mailer and then use native binkp linux files?

Yes, provided that the DOSEMU environment "senses" new files received by the Linux BinkD process; and in return the BinkD process must be able to sense new packets/mailbox contents created by D'Bridge.

    --------------------------

Another very minor release addressing long-term stability and reliability:

    - Code cleanup for dialup modems and elsewhere throughout.

    - Slight timeslice/release improvement.

    - Should have slightly reduced memory usage on MS-DOS computers, but if
performance is a problem, increase the overlay buffer by overriding with
the DBOVRBUFSIZ environment variable (refer to TECHSPEC file)
