• Amtrak delays

    Is it true?

The majority of Amtrak's delays are due to freight railroads giving priority to their own trains over passenger trains. Even though this is explicitly against the law, only 1 violator has ever been charged by the Department of Justice in the entire 47-year history of Amtrak.

Maybe he meant that for a railroading echo?

Now that you mention it, I see there's an echo called RAILFAN which has recent traffic together with at least one contributor Denis already knows.

In the E_T echo people do quote news articles & whatnot at times... because they want to know e.g. whether "the majority of [blah blah]" should be treated as plural, to which I'd answer "yes" after running some other examples through my head. Whether or not the claims in one news article or another are valid is generally best directed to an echo specializing in the topic.... :-)
