    Hello Kurt,

    Crazy idea, neh?

    If I know I'm nuts, I can't be nuts.
If I know I'm not, I must be nuts.
If I think I'm nuts, I might be nuts.

So what am I? Hell if I know.

    Hello Kurt,

    Crazy idea, neh?

Rules for the POLITICS echo, according to the latest pretender -

POLITICS is for the discussion and debate of topical political SD>discussions, primarily involving an American point of view. Due
to the nature of these discussions, emotions can and will run high.
The following policies are in place to keep the peace in here as
best as possible. Your participating in this echo implies implicit SD>agreement to abiding by these policies.

I guess that rules me out since I am Cajun and not American.

    # There is no such thing as "free speech" in this echo.

I guess that rules everybody else out, too.

Since the pretender has officially proclaimed "free speech"
as nonexistent, then everybody in the echo (including himself)
is in violation. Therefore, we are all banned from playing
    in his pigpen. Including himself.

I have no problem complying with his request,

No individual has the right to demand others to comply with
whatever he/she has in mind. Especially some of the commands
and directives postulated in the pretender's list of "rules".

but it is blatantly obvious that if ones messages are from the left or
    that
of socialism, that appears to be just fine.

Anybody who disagreed with Adolf Hitler had a price to pay.
Anybody who disagreed with Chairman Mao had a price to pay.
Anybody who disagreed with El Comandante had a price to pay.
Anybody who disagred with Il Duce had a price to pay.
Anybody who disagreed with Pol Pot had a price to pay.
Anybody who disagreed with Idi Amin had a price to pay.

Is that the kind of echo you want? Where the only participants
are those who agree with the pretender's point of view?

The only participant in such an echo would be the pretender himself.
Unless you want to call yourself a lackey and enjoy sucking cock.

If you going to have rules then they should apply to everyone no
matter which side those messages are on.

The pretender can start with himself.

    Hello Ward,

I have no problem complying with his request, ...

Why not start your own echo ?

Because it would have to be approved by the NAB.
Kind of like the seal of good housekeeping. And
then he would have to have it elisted by the NAB's
handpicked elist gatekeeper. And then, in order
to keep it, he would have to update it. Every six
months. Otherwise, someone else will hijack it,
and claim it as their own. And be applauded by
    the NAB.

That is exactly what Bj”rn Felten did after Frank
Vest handed him the keys to the kingdom for the
Fidonews echo. He had it elisted, and made no
changes since, thus had no need to update it.
So what happened? Some dude named Andrew Leary
hijacked it and claimed it for himself. With
the full approval of the NAB.

Maybe Nick Andre can explain to you the reeasons why.

Of course, no private elisting has any official
status in Fidonet. But that's beside the point.

    Hello Greg,

However your request is understood and I shall comply with it.

This is what the latest pretender proclaimed in his "rules"
    for the POLITICS echo -

I have no problem complying with his request,

A self-declared "moderator" who refuses to acknowledge any
basis for authority? Do keep in mind the pretender has publicly
stated his own disregard for EP1 and all other Fidonet documents
as having any legitimacy. So what is the basis for his claim?

No private elist has any official status in Fidonet.

That is the basis of the pretender's claim to be moderator
    of a non-existent echo.

He has elisted himself as the elisted moderator of a dead
echo on a private elist that has no official status in Fidonet.
A dead echo that was supposed to have been removed from
distribution years ago. According to official Fidonet documents,
    such as EP1.

Your beloved emperor is wearing no clothes.
Just like your beloved man in orange.

but it is blatantly obvious that if ones messages are from the left or
    that
of socialism, that appears to be just fine.

Your beloved is still naked as a jaybird. Those on the right,
such as Glenn Beck, can see it quite plainly. So can those
on the left, such as Bernie Sanders. Maybe you should take off
your own blinders so that you can also see the light.

If you going to have rules then they should apply to everyone no
matter which side those messages are on.

Are you suggesting we should all get naked and have an orgy?

    Hello Ward,

I have no problem complying with his request, ...

Why not start your own echo ?

Sounds like a neat idea! Since the POLITICS echo has been
removed from distribution by lack of traffic, there is no
moderator. Gary Braswell had done like Elvis, having left
the building years ago. The POL_INC echo has also been
removed from distrubution by lack of traffic, as there
is no moderator. Dan Ceppa had done like Elvis, having left
the building years ago. The ALL_POLITICS echo likewise
bit the dust, having no moderator. Alan Hess had done
like Elvis, having left the building years ago. Or maybe
it was John Hull, who also did like Elvis. Kind of hard
to keep up with all those former moderators, with so many
of them emulating Elvis. There was also a gay Canadian
who decided it was more important to go on tour with his
rock band than continue playing politics ...

    GENERAL ECHOMAIL POLICY 1
    February 1, 1989

    V: STATEMENT OF POLICIES

    1. BASIC ECHOMAIL POLICY ...

    [..]

    16. ADDING OR REMOVING CONFERENCES FROM THE Backbone: A
conference may be added to the Backbone only by request of the
RECOGNIZED Conference Moderator. A conference may be removed
from the Backbone by lack of traffic. A committee composed of the
ZEC and 4 RECs shall review the status of backbone echos every 6
months. At which time those echos which have not maintained a
minimum 10 messages a week over the preceeding 6 months will be
noted and their Conference moderators will be contacted. These
conferences will be given 3 months to improve their traffic or
withdraw from Fidonet backbone distribution. The recognized
conference moderator may request removal of their conference from
the Fidonet backbone distribution at their discretion.
