While SBBS can do email and can gate Usenet, AFAIK, it can't actually gate email to FTN nodes behind the Synchronet system. Email addresses generated from echomail posts gated to NNTP have a fake @fidonet domain - the addresses are syntactically valid, but not reachable. The only exception to that is anything posted on the gateway BBS itself will have the BBS's Internet domain appended.
