I used to dislike Democrats for their position on open borders & defunding legal immigration. <- That was clue #1 that something was up.

Then Andrew Cuomo happened, being in favor of not only illegal immigration & open borders, but also being in favor of legal aid for illegals, and
especially for him emptying the jails throughout the state. <- That's clue #2.

Now the Democrats are stirring up racial tensions by asking their pals in the media to turn the non-racial George Floyd case into a racial case. Anything
to make the USA look bad, just because they are unhappy with their lack of power in the White House, and perhaps they're also angry about the FBI &
Obama being exposed for their wrongdoings. <- Clue #3.

These clues are telling us that the Democrats want more and more crime, but why? How does crime benefit the Democrats? The crime kinda scares me; do the Democrats want people to be scared? So that we can be more easily manipulated?

"Tired of crime? Vote for Democrats!" <- Is that gonna be their slogan?
Because it never has been their slogan before! If I'm right about all this, then I hope all the destruction and all the crime victims are worth it. All this just to make Democrats sit comfortably behind 10' concrete walls while
the less fortunate Americans get slaughtered by all this "mandatory crime."

Cuomo never supported illegal immigration. You need to get your facts

The Democrats (or the Republicans for that matter) do not have friends in

That's ridiculous to think/say the Democrats want more crime.

The current crime spree the white house is on is very scary. Be afraid. Be
    very afraid.

The good news is the is an election coming up shortly. The people of the USA can put a stop to that if they choose.

Right wing propaganda. Nothing is up there.

Every 2020 Democrat for president candidate debated, each and every one of
them stated that they are in favor of open borders. And this includes
prominent Democrat members of the US Senate.

Cuomo never supported illegal immigration. You need to get your facts straight.

Al - you're missing some serious news! Andrew Cuomo has made drivers licenses available to illegal immigrants while at the same time making it illegal for the motor vehicle dept to report them to ice. It creates a pathway for their citizenship, while people who are trying to migrate legitimately are facing longer wait times than usual.

And this group includes people who waited their entire lives to come to
the USA, many for potentially life-saving medical care, but thousands of illegals are budging in line without respect for those who applied and are awaiting their approval letters. It's not fair and that creates a hell of a
    lot of safety concerns.

Then what happened a little later, is Andy let all accused criminals out of jail within 26 hours or less.

It's like, "Hey criminals, is there anything else we can do for ya?"

So naturally, Andy does more for them yet - No more getting arrested and
having your photo in the news. Media can no longer show mugshots unless it's
    a person at large.

And after all that? There's even more bending backwards for criminals. I know that the people in NY don't stand for this. It is totally f'd. And I haven't even told you about all the other things Cuomo does that doesn't involve hurting people.

The reason for all this - I suspect - is that our upstate Republican
committees are corrupt. We have a democrat assemblywoman in my district who
ran unopposed last election, and it looks like she's going to do it again
this election. She's part of the Cuomo army against law and order. I've
reached out to her and she responded that she wanted to help people who
didn't have money for bail. I'm like "Ok..."

I wouldn't BS you Al. You're a cool bbs dude, I know you are. I grew up in upstate NY and these changes are ridiculous. Ask any conservative from NY and they will tell you the same thing. The residents of NY are NOT spoken for!
All this bs happened after I bought a house here.

I disagree with this statement. Watching some of the meltdowns that those
in the American media had on Election Night 2016 makes their bias pretty obvious. Going back in time beyond that, the soft ball questions that
Kattie Couric asked Hillary Clinton before the 2008 primaries, setting up
fake Town Halls by feeding the participants and Bill Clinton the scripted questions beforehand (the "Boxers or Briefs" question included), having
Bill and, later, Obama on the late night shows just to show they were one
    of the boys...

Speaking of Couric... I can remember how she used to even say other
politicians names. She would "sing-song" Hillary's name while saying "President Bush" through clinched teeth.

There is a lot of fake news spread around, but the media bias is not a part

What does that mean exactly, and it something you need to be worried about?

For us, "open borders" means that anyone can enter the USA unnanounced, from anywhere, Canada, Mexico, no passport needed, no driver's license needed, certainly no visa needed.

People can come and go as they please - the people who work in the border booths ("How long will you be staying in the states? Are you bringing any alcohol or tobacco?") will have their job duty change to "Welcome to the USA! No questions asked! Get the hell in here!"

That's something I worry about because I like things better the way they are now; people are required to enter through a port of entry, they need to
show ID, and their cargo is subject to inspection. If they're wanted by
police in the USA, Canada, or Mexico, they're busted right there on the border. Democrats are thrill-seekers, I guess.

I have hope that Democrat and Republican politicians can make some progress if they can work together in spite of the current Democrat <-> Republican

I hope so too. Democrats obviously want liberal stuff, and Republicans obviously want safety stuff, so there is a conflict of interest in
budgeting, but I'm in favor of striking some deals; we do some liberal crap if they do some conservative crap. I wish Trump would put it like that.

I suppose you can turn them away at the border if that will get you where you need to go. Just turn them away, don't separate children from their

If we turn them away, that sounds nice. "Sorry guys, but you got to turn around and go back home!" It won't work; they will look for alternative
    routes if there's a roadblock.

As far as I know, separating children from parents is due to the parents being arrested and detained for committing illegal immigration. In the USA, when parents go to jail, the authorities make arrangements for the children they leave behind.

If I go rob a bank, with my kid, and I get busted on my way out the door, the police will not let me take my kid to jail with me. The kid has to go somewhere else. This is how and why children are being separated from their parents at the border; their parents are being detained for illegal offenses, the children being put "in cages" are being protected by authorities as an alternative to letting them starve to death in the streets.

without a lawyer present. If you don't have a lawyer or can't afford one they give you one. May not be the best lawyer but they'll give you one. ;)

That sounds similar to what we got here, but do you think Canada will give a foreign national a free lawyer if they can't afford one? I needed legal aid in Pennsylvania once. They wouldn't give it to me because I wasn't a Pennsylvania resident. But NY will give you legal aid no matter what country you came from.

I have excellent security cameras, a fenced-in property with a locked gate, but I still feel unprepared to handle criminals with nothing to lose, because that's how it is here now; they really have no incentive to not rob and/or murder people. If Trump is re-elected in November I strongly suspect more rioting and chaos (in the name of "peaceful protesting"). The defund-the-police movement and acceptance of the BLM marxist movement is the first in a series of moves to completely undo any civil-rights accomplishments of the 60's.

If Biden is elected however, watch Covid magically go away courtesy the mass media just like H1N1, Sars, Bird flu, West Nile, etc. The CDC will move the goal-posts so that Covid must be the primary cause of death and absolutely nothing else. Watch the Covid numbers drop and democrats become heroes, and suddenly the media settles down into an odd peaceful bliss.

I almost guarantee that is what will certainly happen. All panic and hysteria stops with Biden, everyone is happy with Trump gone and secretly the leftists then begin to work the socialist angle even further. Biden will then get
sick or something will happen and his VP takes over. Media plays the sympathy angle. We'll all feel sorry for him meanwhile we don't see the next storm...

Maybe fake news is new in Canada, but it has existed long before Trump started running so, unless he has mastered time travel...

We have our share of fakes and liars here to.
We try not to elect them if at all possible. :)

Yes, but do they deliver your news? We were not talking about electing
people, we were talking about the existence of "fake new" as told by "journalists."

Dan Rather still maintains the story and the facts are so. Something about the way they got the story or the documents were questionable.

He got in trouble because the source was not checked and there was no proof
    of anything he reported.

There's nothing new about liars and fakes. This "Fake News" hysteria is new, a gift to the American people from Donald Trump.

If you are saying you never heard the term "fake news" before Donald Trump
ran for President, I will have to take your word for that. But it is not
    that new to me.

Why do you call it Wuhan Caronavirus? That spin on the truth is telling.

Well, I have friends from China. They call it that, and CCP Virus. I
don't think I have ever heard them use the term "COVID-19" except at work.
So, if they are not offended by it, I am not worried about using it. That
was what it was called in its early days in the press before people went
    all PC crazy about it.

An aside, when I was younger, the term "Oriental" was used pretty often.
When I was in college, I met some non-Asian people who claimed the term was racist and offensive and I should stop using it.

Once I got into the work force, I have had co-workers from different parts
of Asia. The ones I got to know well are from China and Vietnam. Unless refering specifically to persons from a particular country, guess what term they use to describe that area of the World and the people who are from
    there?

If you guess any term other than "Oriental" you are wrong! The only time
they say "Asian" is when they are referring to persons from India or some
other place West of East Asia.

I often wondered if I should tell them that they are being offensive?

Do you think Donald Trump policies are responsible for your good fortune?

Donald Trumps tax cuts benefit the top 1% and not the average American.

I attribute your good fortune to your own actions. I hope that will continue to be the case regardless of who the president happens to be.

Yes, I do because my actions were the same during the tenure of the
previous couple of Presidents and DID NOT change. I saw no such increase
until 2018 or so. I did not mention taxes, only my 401K.

And Obama's, too. It was under his administration that children were put in cages. Footage of this was later passed off as being something that started happening after Trump took office. It was later exposed to be footage from Obama's administration.

Those cages are probably old and predate Obama.

OK, I see. When it is something Trump did, it is new. If Obama did it, it must have been someone else before him. That is more telling than my use

If it was me, I would just put them all on busses and dump them in British Columbia.

In other words, it was that variety of supposedly non-existent news known as "fake" that real newspeople used to get fired over.

It was the Trump administration where these separations were happening.

Something here is fake. Did these separations begin/happen under Obama or Trump? Do you remember the uproar over Trump doing this?

I remember the uproar. I also remember reports that the separations were a carry over from the previous administration and were not new.

Also, a lot of the children that are/were being "separated" were actually being abandonded... adults were using children to gain sympathy to get in (or get on TV), and then leaving them behind once they got across.

I'm talking about children/families in US custody at the border.

Right, and I am talking about when the "parents" get released and they leave the kids.

    Hello Aaron,

Before the first NFL football game is played, and all NFL games
thereafter, the crowd will rise to its feet and join in singing the
    Black National Anthem -

What a horrible thing that is - to have black NFL fans denouncing the national anthem.

What is so horrible about celebrating such a great part of America?
We live in a multicultural society, not one of apartheid like South
    Africa used to be.

    What's next?

    Native American Pow-Wows.

    Full segregation?

Who said anything about segregation? There are plenty of seats
available in NFL stadiums to accommodate everybody, regardless of
    race, sex, gender, or whatever.

    That ain't gonna be Trump's fault either;

When did Trump ever call for the Washington Redskins to change
its name? When did Trump ever call for the Kansas City Chiefs to
change its name? When did Trump ever call for the Atlanta Braves
to change its name? When did Trump ever call for the Cleveland
Indians to change its name? And then there are the mascots ...

it's your liberal media making George Floyd the new Jesus,

Four cops, three of them white and one of them Asian, created
the new Jesus. It is everybody else who became his followers.

and making Derrick Chauvin the new Hitler, despite him not ever saying or doing anything racially motivated.

White cop kneeling on black man's throat for 8 minutes, 46 seconds.
That is a long time without air. And you do not think it was racially motivated?

White cop wanted black dude dead. Plain and simple. White cop
got exactly what he wanted. But our society is too polite. Chauvin
will never get what he truly deserves.

The white cop should be deprived of his own liberty. For the rest
of his natural life. That is the only punishment he truly deserves.

His three accomplices might deserve the same, but perhaps can be
granted parole after having served half a century or so in the slammer.

Of course, there can never be true justice for George Floyd, as his
remains are already in the ground forever.

and no need to take 2 knees for China either.

There is no such thing as the "kung flu" - or any other such nonsense
    spewed by your dingaling president.

Trump's efforts to leave Americans with no health care for anybody
except those who can afford it is a non-starter. Access to quality
health care is the first of all human rights, as being dead means

I forgive Obama for promising affordable health care for all Americans - for
four years - and never delivering it. He meant well, I'm sure, despite his tax penalty for people which was tacked on to people paying cash for their medical bills.

The ACA has provided much needed help for millions of Americans,
and remains the law of the land. Despite the Trump administration's
many attempts to have the courts overturn it.

What does Trump have in mind to replace it with? Nothing. Nothing at
all. He wants all Americans (except those with golden parachutes) to
    suffer. As much as possible.

Helluva guy. Somebody should give him a taste of his own medicine.
Let him live the life of a pauper. Without a pot to piss in, or a
    place to stay.

But we are not that kind of a people. Once we try him on various
crimes, and find him guilty as hell, we will grant him a place to
stay. And clothe him. And feed him. And give him all the medical
care he could ever need. Why? Because we can. Not that he deserves
    any of it.

Besides, that is what taxes are for.

    Hello Mike,

    [..]

An aside, when I was younger, the term "Oriental" was used pretty
    often.

When I was in college, I met some non-Asian people who claimed the term was
racist and offensive and I should stop using it.

Depends on who you talk to. But to some, it is offensive.

Once I got into the work force, I have had co-workers from different parts of Asia. The ones I got to know well are from China and Vietnam. Unless refering specifically to persons from a particular country, guess what term
they use to describe that area of the World and the people who are from there?

I don't have to guess, having been to some of those parts.

If you guess any term other than "Oriental" you are wrong!

You are so full of it your eyes are turning brown.

The only time they say "Asian" is when they are referring to persons from India or some other place West of East Asia.

Filipinos to not call themselves "Asians", as they not look at
their country as being any part of Asia.

Japanese consider themselves as being the white race of Asia.
Even though Japan is not part of any mainland called Asia.

I often wondered if I should tell them that they are being offensive?

Perhaps you should travel to the Philippines and Japan so you can
    find out for yourself.

Do you think Donald Trump policies are responsible for your good fortune?

Donald Trumps tax cuts benefit the top 1% and not the average American.

I attribute your good fortune to your own actions. I hope that will
continue to be the case regardless of who the president happens to be.

Yes, I do because my actions were the same during the tenure of the previous couple of Presidents and DID NOT change. I saw no such increase until 2018 or so. I did not mention taxes, only my 401K.

An individual's actions are never the same from one time to another
time. We always change our approach to solving problems, trying to find
    better solutions.

When we know something does not work, we try something else. And
keep trying and trying and trying, until we finally do find something
    that works.

Tax cuts for the wealthy is not the way to grow an economy. However,
tax cuts for everybody else can be very beneficial. JFK uncerstood
that. So did Obama. And let's not forget about Clinton, who left
office with a surplus. Eight months later, that surplus got squandered
by GWB and his tax cuts for the wealthy, putting this country into
deficit. Then came the terrorist attacks on 9-11. So please. Do not
blame it on Osama bin Laden.

And my actions had nothing to do with lower black unemployment, and unemployment in general.

Voting is a violent act. So yes. You did have plenty to do with
black folks (and other folks) having higher unemployment than white
    folks.

I hear Trump say "I created the greatest (this/that) in American history".

    Dated 17 February 2020

This was pre-virus, so there is no excuse.

As can plainly be seen, the economy fared far better under
the Obama administration than under the current Trump administration.
When compared to the 1950s and 1960s, the economy fared even better.
But then, back in those days, no other economy in the world could
match what the USA could do.

Still nothing racial. I think you're sorta like me; you're willing to ignore
inconvenient truths & invest in convenient truths. We should stop doing that, because we're lying to ourselves.

When white cop does it to black man, it is racist.
When black man does it to white cop, it is justice.

Since this was clearly a case of white cop doing it to black man,
it is most assuredly racist. Unnerstan'?

You're lying to yourself if you think the George Floyd murder was racially motivated.

White cop doing it to black man = racially motivated.

Third degree murder or second degree manslaughter doesn't equal
    racially motivated killing.

White cop who did the evil deed was charged with second degree murder.
All four cops should have been charged with first degree murder. None
of the cops were black, and chose to make sure he never lived to see
another day. That is racism at its worst.

People of other races kill each other all the time,

The state does it all the time, committing murder in our name.
We should end the death penalty now, and toss Gruesome Gertie and
all other devices of execution on the trash heap of history.

but some liberals in the media decided that this time we're gonna
tranform a murder (I'd say it's more like negligent homicide) into "racist white police officer kills unarmed black man just for being black."

How many rich folks get the juice? None. How many white folks get
the juice, compared to the number of black folks who get the juice?
Very few, and all of them dirt poor. Our society does not give a
sh*t about black folks, whether they are rich or poor. All it cares
about is for whites to keep and maintain white power forever. No
    matter what it takes.

You *want* Chauvin to be a KKK hillbilly on a mission to kill blacks, but why?

We the people are calling for justice to be served. That means for
all four cops (not just Chauvin) who committed this evil deed be
prosecuted for their crimes. And do the time, after being convicted
    and sentenced.

Does it help the Biden campaign because people have accused Trump of being racist?

The news media has already proven it to be a fact that Trump is
    a racist. Nothing new there.

    This is their big break?

Pretty much everybody knows Trump is a racist and a bigot.

But should everyone pay a penalty at tax time as punishment for not being able to afford Obama's "Affordable Health Care for All Americans?"

There is no tax penalty for not paying your taxes in regards
    to the ACA.

They don't ask you if you were able to afford a health plan - they just ask
if you had a health plan.

Like I said, there is no tax penalty.

I'm talking about Donald Trumps zero-tolerance policy that separated
    children from their parents.

If you decide to drag your kids all the way across Mexico, knowing that you
are going to be separated at the border, whose fault is that? Did Donald invite them up? No. Did he tell them to drag their kids across dangerous areas of Mexico controled by drug cartels? No.

Sounds to me like they are the type of parents that the law often
permanently separates from their kids. In our country behavior like that
is called "endangering the welfare of a child."

Now, I do know of people who do work to encourage such behavior. I am
related to one. Until COVID, they were making regular trips to Central American to teach people what to do and how to act when they make it to our border. They are not a Republican or Trump supporter, and would be
very irrate at being confused with either.

I don't know what to think about the Repulican party as it is today. I don't know if Donald Trump represents them and what they stand for. I suppose he does or they would replace him.

I think they signed on with an outsider patsy who's going to take the
fall, but in the meantime advance their agenda more than a
political operator could. It's entirely possible that Trump's
presidency implodes, and when the dust settles the republican party
will have made significant gains in their agenda.

When this policy failed the Trump administration said it would stop in 2018.
It has not. There have been more than 1000 children separated from their parents since then and it continues.

I did not see any photos or footage of the crowd in question, so my MP>assumption is that the couple overreacted. I am glad they did not shoot MP>anyone.

They tore down the gate of a `gated' community in order to enter the area. The gate was there for a reason.

Its the same as tearing down the `gate' of a fence around a TV factory. The `gate' is there for a reason; to only allow employees and shippers in and out.

The gate around the `gated' community where this took place was torn down by the protesters. The couple were in the right in that they were protecting
    their home and property.

No doubt the democrats in power there will skew it into something its not (and democrats always do).

But an angry mob tearing down the gate of a `gated' community and entering the area isn't `peaceful' in any sense of the word.

The only thing I'd have done differently is I'd have remained inside, but
ready to repel any who began to damage my property. They wouldn't have even known I was armed till the first shot.

Going outside to confront a crowd isn't smart; especially after news reels of heavily armed mobs and protesters of the lefties were broadcast all over the country. There was no way to know if anyone in the mob of vandals were armed
    or not. Bad move.

I'm surprised one or both weren't shot!

I thought I had heard that but could not remember. Thanks!

Yeah, just as long as those protesters were not knocking down the gates to their communities or homes.

But ownership of property is wrong! lol

I would not have wanted to go out to confront them either.

When they came out with firearms they were in danger of having to actually
    use them.

In a crowd of that sort there's always going to be at least one individual who's going to do something to see if they can provoke you to fire.

The crowd was big enough that the couple could have easily been overwhelmed
and their own weapons used on them.

Staying inside, staying quiet, and watching is the way to go. One brick thrown at a window they are no longer `protesting', they are `attacking'. Two quick shots at the brick thrower would do it. As my old drill sergeant used to say; `one shot is good...two's better!'
