    Hello Everybody,

Thanks to President Barack Obama, the racial slur of "oriental"
and "orientals" cannot be used in federal documents. The term is
offensive especially to Asians, as it implies they are "savages".
Kind of like calling Native Americans "redskins".

"Pirates" is offensive to me. My people were victimized by pirates years ago. I'm gonna need a big apology from the owner of the Pittsburgh Pirates in order to go about my life from here on out.

The Pirate Party is alive and well in Sweden. But ever since
Roberto Clemente crashed into the side of a mountain, they made
    lousy baseball players.

I'm aware that perspective makes all the difference
here - and I respect that.

I recall strongly worded arguments about the inherent racism of the
term on Fidonet circa 1995, long before Obama, regarding this. I'm
sure we'll be going around on this for many years to come.

The high point of the argument was when an Asian member of my board
complained that "The Orient" wasn't on the map, and therefore it was a
racist slur created by the whites to keep his people down.

    The reply?

"Show me where WHITE is on the map, Motherf*cker!"
