I do believe due to what this is; A Spy Balloon, by that very nature it is confirmed as a intentional intrusion into U.S. air space.

Correct. China tried to claim it was not a spy balloon, that it was
maybe even from a third-party Chinese source (like a company), and
that it "got away" from whoever was handling it. The Pentagon has confirmed their belief that it is a spy balloon.

There are supposedly two of them now, so for China's explanation to be true someone must have been very careless with their balloons. :)

Actually, there is only one of them now. The one that was crossing over
the USA was shot down when it got to the Atlantic Ocean. They are
searching for the parts that were underneath the balloon. Once the jets
shot it, it plummeted down to the ocean rather quickly.

Language but, yes, I do not disagree. Not sure if it is a reflection of Biden himself (who I think used to be sort of warhawkish?), a reflection of the beliefs of his handlers and the part of our public he is trying to play to, or a reflection of any possible affiliations that Biden might have with certain other countries.

I sincerely apologize about the language.
Did you hear the news that the balloon has been shot down over coast of South Carolina, but Biden's response seems to have changed. He said that he told the Pentagon days ago that he authorized shooting it down. His handlers probably suggested "that the balloon must be shot down, because if it is not it could further damage your already worthless reputation, Mr. President, also sir continuing to do nothing could have massive negative consequences for the Democratic party."

I also wondered if they were not afraid that it might contain some
    nuclear device.
    There were many What If's
There was this (your reference concerning a possible nuclear device)
I also have heard of many additional concerns that were on the minds of concerned folks. There was the thought over a deadly biological chemical
attack and also with a possible EMP electromagnetic pulse event.

If shooting it down was not an option due a concern with people on the ground, why was it not considered to have this thing towed and then lowered by Military aircraft? Letting it float for days and apparently under some kind of controlled navigation was really the wrong way to go. This is will be a political quagmire with many questions and the damage has already been done,
it might be some time before it is felt and realized.

There was no reason to let it float about for so many days, questions such as these must be answered and it is further evidence that Joe Biden is not fit
    for office.

People can speculate all they want and how they wish with how
Trump would of handled this, but I can tell from one of his biggest supporters he wouldn't let this thing float about in U.S. for days.
    Biden is a complete disgrace!

Was this possible with the aid of a Chinese satellite that it was in communication with. If so I would consider treating it to a full spread of photonic torpedo's set to a maximum yield with a flash so bright it could
    be seen from Beijing.

I am sure that we have technology that we took from Germany that the world knows nothing about and has not seen.

If the mission could be commanded by William Shatner or Scott Bakula that would be the perfect ending to a perfect day.
Much on the planet Earth must change before there can ever be a Starship Enterprise NX-01. but then would come the Vulcans. :)

There are apparently two of them now. Somehow, and unfortunately, I
doubt that the audience that will be watching the SotU and buying what
is said really care about being spied on. They are probably in the
    "China is our friend" camp.

You know that I am not in that camp, I do not understand why there is not already a bill or an executive order that stops the purchase (and reverses previously sold land or property) to any foreign national from outside the U.S.A banning the sale of land or property in the U.S. to a foreign national or to a country that is considered to be hostile.
This. I would get accomplished within the first day and within the first hour.

The balloon was only spotted by the public because it was an unusually clear day and, I am guessing, folks were looking into the skies in
hopes of seeing the comet later in the evening. Seeing something
during the day probably caught them offguard.

So who knows how often these balloons invade US airspace.

It sort of reminds me of the Yugo that went off the Mackinac Bridge many
years ago. It wasn't that the car went over that scared the Bridge Authorities. It was the fact that if someone wouldn't have seen it,
they never would have known because it left no evidence. I'm sure that
the question of "How many are down there?" went through people's minds.

(BTW: They did send a dive team down in the summer and, to everyone's

Why would someone let millions of dollars worth of equipment float
around wherever the wind will take it?

For the same reason someone let millions of dollars worth of equipment and shoot it off to another planet: to gether information.

You're right about that. Further inspection is needed. However, we
won't be inspecting anything if the aircraft makes it safely back home
    to China.

Now that would be cool. A balloon that went across the whole planet and
made it back home. I wonder if it would take more or less than 80 days.

IHMO: The balloon probably has a destruct mechanism that will be set off

Same here, and it bothers me. Why are we not finding out about this until it made it all the way to Montana? It's the size of 2 school buses, they said. It
could have hurt someone along the way.

We the public only found out about it because other members of the public spotted it. Our government had known about it before it even crossed the border from Canada

How bad is our radar system? I was under the impression that we know how to detect and destroy unauthorized aircraft? How would we defend ourselves had it
been a bomb? It's BS for the media and for the white house to pass it off as "..just another one of those spying aircrafts the size of 2 school buses flyin
overhead today..." They normalize it as if we should expect this all the time as a somewhat normal occurrance. (TOTAL BS)

A poster from Canada, in an echo on an othernet, has stated that
their government informed ours that it was on its way before it got to
Montana. My guess is the only reason we know about it is because the
public saw it. At that point, our government had to acknowledge it, and
that is probably why they shot it down (but only after it got across
    the country).

My guess is that this happens more than we know and, in most cases, our government knows and just lets them float on over. As long as we don't see them, they just let them go.

We know that our military is much more sophisticated than this. What if it was
loaded with explosives? Nobody would even have a clue until it's over Montana?

It's either a gigantic military failure, or else it's another hustle for "the big guy." If nothing else, it's proof to the whole world that the mainland USA
    doesn't guard their skies.

I am leaning towards hustle since our government did know about it and
didn't say anything until the public noticed it.

in a helium balloon it will lose altitude and gently fall out of the
sky as it looses helium, therefore, it wouldn't plummet to earth as
    Biden has suggested.

That depends a great deal on how the balloon is contructed.

I've seen large balloons (like weather balloons) pop like a kids balloon
when a small puncture is made in it.

But you are correct in that Biden's excuse it just that: an excuse.
There were plenty of times when the balloon was over unhabited areas
that they could have shot it down without any danger.

The real truth is more likely that Biden was very afraid of what would

Well, shooting it down over Kansas City would not have done him well for

I don't think the first one will reach the Pacific unless it flies around

I do believe due to what this is; A Spy Balloon, by that very nature it is confirmed as a intentional intrusion into U.S. air space.

Language but, yes, I do not disagree. Not sure if it is a reflection of
Biden himself (who I think used to be sort of warhawkish?), a reflection
of the beliefs of his handlers and the part of our public he is trying to
play to, or a reflection of any possible affiliations that Biden might have with certain other countries.

As for not plummeting, I think that would depend on what they shot it with. Some have suggested that using smaller munitions, that would only punch
holes and cause leaks, would result in a slow, controlled desent. However,
due to the altitude of the balloon, there is some skepticism that munitions that small could be fired from close enough to hit the target.

If they shoot it with a missle, the balloon will likely lose integrity and would fall much faster than a slowly deflating balloon.

I also wondered if they were not afraid that it might contain some nuclear device.

anyone says or mentions... What would Trump do? The Dems would have you believ
that Trump would of started World War III over this, that is just foolish but that is the kind of thing that they would have you believe. As they would sit there in their mommas basement while licking a fudgesicle as they tell you between licks that they thank their lucky stars that Trump is not in power. We both know how the left thinks.

Trump has already said he would have shot it down somehow.

This absolutely shows the world that Biden is an absolute push-over and more over to a greater point makes the United States of America appear weak.

I don't doubt the Chinese have figured out we are pretty soft right now. I think everyone except the Russians have figured that out.

I wonder what the people in Taiwan, must be thinking... you promised you would
protect us from Chinese aggression and you have a very tired man in your White
House that either will not or can not defend his own air space.
How are you going to protect us, in our time of need?

I am actually a little shocked that China has not tried something
aggressive against Taiwan. Maybe they really don't want it back.

It is very ironic that next week is The State of the Union, is Biden really going to stand there and suggest to the American People that the State of the Union is strong and meanwhile he did nothing while a spy balloon floated from Montana and went unchecked left alone to eventually float out to the Atlantic Ocean?

There are apparently two of them now. Somehow, and unfortunately, I doubt

someone must have been very careless with their balloons. :)

Please feel free to invite Alex Jones here.
The two of you posting in the same echo would be a true laugh riot.

    [..]

Trump has already said he would have shot it down somehow.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene claims that is what Trump would have
done, but could cite no quote of him ever saying such a thing.
So please, when you decide to make something up, do cite a source.

    [..]

I don't doubt the Chinese have figured out we are pretty soft right now. I
think everyone except the Russians have figured that out.

Putin certainly knows Biden is no push-over.
And so does the Chinese president.
Which explains why so many other countries remain free,
and democratic. Countries like Japan, South Korea, Philippines,
Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland ... along with the
    people of Taiwan/Taipei.

I wonder what the people in Taiwan, must be thinking... you promised
    you would
protect us from Chinese aggression and you have a very tired man in
    your White
House that either will not or can not defend his own air space.
How are you going to protect us, in our time of need?

I am actually a little shocked that China has not tried something aggressive against Taiwan. Maybe they really don't want it back.

Biden's response to Putin's invasion of Ukraine showed the Chinese
it would not be a good idea for them to even consider trying do the
    same with Taipei.

There are apparently two of them now. Somehow, and unfortunately, I doubt that the audience that will be watching the SotU and buying what is said really care about being spied on. They are probably in the "China is our friend" camp.

    You are deluded.

    Hello Mike,

But didn't the Japanese do something similar back in WWII? Only a couple
made it to the U.S. and I think only 1 exploded.

Yes, they did do something similar, the difference being that theirs were not really spy balloons but were intended to be weapons. IIRC, the one that did reach North America may have landed in Canada, or maybe the Pacific Northwest. I cannot remember now.

I have wondered if the decision not to shoot these down now might be because they think they might be rigged to explode, possibly with a nuclear
    device.

Silly boy, atomic weapons would have been far too heavy.
And hydrogen bombs had yet to be developed.
The only experience the Japanese had with atomic bombs
were in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Those two events did not
end well for Japanese who were there at the time.

However, two people did die from those Japanese weather balloons.
The dangers of camping. The only two people ever to die from a
falling object other than a flying rock.

    Hello Mike,

The real truth is more likely that Biden was very afraid of what would
the Chinese do next with an act of aggression or other forms
retaliation for knocking the hell out of this thing.

More likely that the Biden Crime Family was paid to effectively ignore
    this.

The balloon was only spotted by the public because it was an unusually clear day and, I am guessing, folks were looking into the skies in hopes of
seeing the comet later in the evening. Seeing something during the day probably caught them offguard.

What a great missile defense system Ronald Reagan gave us.
Cannot even stop a single Chinese-made weather balloon from
invading US airspace, much less Canadian airspace.

So who knows how often these balloons invade US airspace.

Or any other type of "aircraft" given Reagan's Star Wars missile
    defense system.

    Hello Aaron,

Well, shooting it down over Kansas City would not have done him well
    for
#3. Waiting until it got to a more populous part of the country,
    rather
than shooting it down over Montana, makes me skeptical of his
    handling of
    it.

Same here, and it bothers me. Why are we not finding out about this until it
made it all the way to Montana?

The Biden Administration did not want to take any chances the
weather balloon would have injured or killed any Eskimos if it
was brought down by a missile. And neither did the Trudeau
Administration in Canada. So the weather balloon was allowed
to continue on its course, wherever the wind took it, until
taking it down with a missile could do no harm to anybody on
    the ground.

It's the size of 2 school buses, they said. It could have hurt someone along
    the way.

The weather balloon was taken down, by a single missile, just off
the coast of Holden Beach, North Carolina. There were no casualties.
And no remains of the weather balloon have been found.

How bad is our radar system?

Ronald Reagan's vaunted Star Wars missile defense system could not
stop a single potentially hostile weather balloon from entering US
airspace. The American peoople deserve a much better system - one
that will actually protect us from harm - rather than leave us
vulnerable to what could fatal - or even catastrophic - to us.

I was under the impression that we know how to detect and destroy unauthorized aircraft?

    Reagan lied.

How would we defend ourselves had it been a bomb?

That is classified. And can only be revealed on a need to know basis.
Even though the answer is obvious - raise the white flag.

It's BS for the media and for the white house to pass it off as
"..just another one of those spying aircrafts the size of 2 school buses flying overhead today..." They normalize it as if we should expect this all
the time as a somewhat normal occurrance. (TOTAL BS)

Bringing down a weather balloon with a missile would leave a
debris field of 20 miles by 20 miles. Or so we have been told by
a DoD spokesman, as reported by Politico.

So the Biden Administration decided to wait. Until the weather
balloon made it to open water. And then, just off the coast of
Holden Beach, North Carolina it happened. A single missile hit
the weather balloon, and it went crashing harmlessly int to
water below, as onlookers cheered at what they saw.

There were no casualties. Not sure if any remains of the weather
balloon have been found by beachcombers since the crash ...

We know that our military is much more sophisticated than this.

All it took was one missile. Launched by a single fighter jet.
The pilot returned safely back to camp. Beach combers gathering
to find whatever remains they could find ...

What if it was loaded with explosives?

The only explosive was what hit the weather balloon.

Nobody would even have a clue until it's over Montana?

The Innuit in Alaska spotted it first. But it was flying too high
for them to poke it with their spears. So they had to let the wind
continue to take it wherever it was going.

It's either a gigantic military failure,

The weather balloon was taken down, by a single missile, over the
Atlantic Ocean, in plain sight of onlookers at Holden Beach, NC.

or else it's another hustle for "the big guy."

Oh, come now. There were no casualties. And the weather balloon
is no more. So what are you complaining about?

If nothing else, it's proof to the whole world that the mainland USA doesn't
    guard their skies.

Two fighter jets were scrambled from Nevada and investigated what
was flying over the skies of Montana. It was determined not to be
a threat to national security and allowed to continue on its way.
Once the weather balloon made it to open water, it was splashed
by a single missile, fired from a US fighter jet. There were no
reported casualties. Or any remains of the water balloon found.

    Hello Greg,

    [..]

Did you hear the news that the balloon has been shot down over coast of South Carolina, but Biden's response seems to have changed.

Off the Carolina coast, in plain sight of beach goers. One F-22, one medium-range missile, direct hit, popping the balloon, splash into the
ocean where it went BOOM, all shown live for the televised coverage.

Biden chose to have it shot down over water, rather than land, as
he did not want any falling debris harming or killing anyone on the
ground. It had already been determined the object was non-dangerous,
so it was not an emergency when spotted in Montana.

"They successfully took it down and I want to complement our aviators
who did it." ~President Joe Biden

He said that he told the Pentagon days ago that he authorized shooting it down.

Department of Defense Secretary Austin said it, not Biden himself.
But is was Biden himself who authorized it to be shot down.

    To recap -

Shooting it down was always an option. Two fighter jets from Idaho
were scrambled to check it out when it was flying over Montana. The
object was deemed non-dangerous, and allowed to continue on its
course, and then was shot down (by a single missile) when it got
    over water.

    [..]

I also wondered if they were not afraid that it might contain some
    nuclear device.

    There were many What If's
There was this (your reference concerning a possible nuclear device)

A nuclear device would have been far too heavy for a weather balloon
to carry it very far, if at all. But just to be sure, Biden ordered
two fighter jets scrambled from Idaho to check it out - as the balloon
    was flying over Montana.

I also have heard of many additional concerns that were on the minds of concerned folks. There was the thought over a deadly biological chemical attack and also with a possible EMP electromagnetic pulse event.

The object was determined to be non-dangerous, so was allowed to
continue on its way - until it reached open water - when it was
downed by one missile just off the Carolina coast.

If shooting it down was not an option due a concern with people on the ground,

Shooting it down was always an option, which as you know is exactly
what happened. Just not the way you wanted.

The weather balloon was shot down over water, as ordered by the
President, harming no one on the ground. You have a problem with that?

why was it not considered to have this thing towed and then lowered by Military aircraft?

Shooting it down with a missile is far easier and more cost effective.
Doing so over water made sure nobody got hurt in the process.

Letting it float for days and apparently under some kind of
controlled navigation was really the wrong way to go.

A weather balloon floats in the air and goes wherever the wind
    takes it.

This is will be a political quagmire with many questions and the damage has
already been done, it might be some time before it is felt and realized.

"I can nearly guarantee you that that balloon would not still be flying
if we were still there." ~Mike Pompeo, former Secretary of State under
Trump, told Sean Hannity on Friday.

On Saturday, Mike Pompeo told FoxNews that he was not aware of such
incidents (spy balloons in USA) "during our four years in office."

Trump chose to do nothing (when he was prez) as multiple weather
balloons (presumably from China) floated across the USA. No protests
by the MAGA crowd anywhere. Not even a peep.

This has been widely reported, by Huffington Post and Bloomberg News,
    among others.

There was no reason to let it float about for so many days,

Trump let it happen, on at least three different occasions.
But that's okay, because Trump is always right. According to
MAGAmaniacs. And that is all that counts. Right?

President Biden ordered it shot down, sent two fighter jets from
Idaho to do so as it was flying over Montana, the object determined
to be non-dangerous, and then splashed when it got over water so
as to make sure nobody on the ground would get hurt.

questions such as these must be answered and it is further evidence that Joe
Biden is not fit for office.

The weather balloon was splashed by a missile as it flew over water,
harming no one. That is the kind of success Joe Biden has done. Quite
unlike what Trump did, which is to say he did NOTHING, as multiple
Chinese weather balloons (at least three) flew over the USA.

People can speculate all they want and how they wish with how
Trump would of handled this, but I can tell from one of his biggest supporters he wouldn't let this thing float about in U.S. for days.
    Biden is a complete disgrace!

We all know what Trump did when he was prez - NOTHING! Of course,
that is no surprise given his track record.

Here is what the news media is saying, despite the wild rantings
of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) -

3 Chinese spy balloons flew over United States during Trump
    administration, defense official says

    Source: CNN

A senior US defense official said Saturday there were three instances
during the Trump administration when China briefly flew a surveillance
balloon over the continental United States.

The “PRC (People's Republic of China) government surveillance balloons transited the continental United States briefly at least three times
during the prior administration and once that we know of at the
beginning of this administration, but never for this duration of time,”
    the defense official said.

Mark Esper, the former Secretary of Defense under President Donald
Trump, told 'CNN This Morning’ on Friday that he was “surprised” by
the Pentagon’s statement that similar incidents had happened during
    the Trump administration.

    Read more:

    https://edition.cnn.com/politics/live-news/suspected-chinese-balloon -over-us-02-04-23/h_1f1e4d057e1aa906e5ef3b686e63527b

Was this possible with the aid of a Chinese satellite that it was in communication with.

President Biden ordered the weather balloon terminated - with extreme prejudice. His order was carried out without hesitation.

If so I would consider treating it to a full spread of photonic torpedo's set to a maximum yield with a flash so bright it could
    be seen from Beijing.

A bit of overkill for a non-dangerous weather balloon don't you think?
No need for any science fiction make believe weapons to do that.

I am sure that we have technology that we took from Germany that the world knows nothing about and has not seen.

We have our own technology that did quite well in splashing the
weather balloon off the coast of North Carolina. One medium-range
missile, fired by one F-22 fighter jet. The balloon's end came
    quickly.

If the mission could be commanded by William Shatner or Scott Bakula that would be the perfect ending to a perfect day.

William Shatner is Canadian, but was not available when the weather
balloon flew over northwestern Canada. And Scott Bakula got himself
restuck in another quantum leap, not able to be around when it flew
over the US. But not a problem, as Biden took care of the problem
balloon once it got over water.

Much on the planet Earth must change before there can ever be a Starship Enterprise NX-01. but then would come the Vulcans. :)

As Leader of the Free World Biden is making everybody safe. And not
just in this country. Thanks to him, the weather balloon never made it
across the pond, and European countries will never be threatened by
    the Chinese menace ...

There are apparently two of them now. Somehow, and unfortunately, I
doubt that the audience that will be watching the SotU and buying what
is said really care about being spied on. They are probably in the
    "China is our friend" camp.

You know that I am not in that camp,

Trump did NOTHING as multiple Chinese weather balloons flew over
the US. So why should anybody believe you are any of his loyal subjects
    would do anything different?

I do not understand why there is not already a bill or an executive order that stops the purchase (and reverses previously sold land or property) to any foreign national from outside the U.S.A banning the sale of land or property in the U.S. to a foreign national or
to a country that is considered to be hostile. >this. I would get accomplished within the first day and within the first hour.

Your xenophobia is showing. Like Trump blaming the coronavirus
on China, and calling it "Kung Flu" and other such nonsense. Far
from doing anything about protecting our national security.

"China had too much respect for 'TRUMP' for this to have happened,
and it NEVER did. JUST FAKE DISINFORMATION!"

And so it was, once it was safe to do so.

His handlers probably suggested "that the balloon must be shot down, because if it is not it could further damage your already worthless reputation, Mr. President, also sir continuing to do nothing could have massive negative consequences for the Democratic party."

Why make up speculations out of whole cloth when the truth is much more accurate and believable?

If shooting it down was not an option due a concern with people on the ground, why was it not considered to have this thing towed and then lowered by Military aircraft?

If that had been a feasible option, I would guess that they would have considered it. Two factors are important: what was the altitude of the balloon (I recall 80,000 feet) and what is the maximum altitude that
military planes who are capable of towing it could fly ( I suspect less
    than 60,000 feet)?

There was no reason to let it float about for so many days, questions

How many balloons came into USA airspace during Trump's term in office? How many did Trump have shot down? Try the answers of "at least 3, and none".

The answer is zero, the three that you are mentioning here is nothing
more then Democratic propaganda provided from the liberal media. It is totally completely made up and I will provide prove of this.

You should really take into consideration and question what you were
told and question who were you told this by was it cnn.com or msnbc.com
    or another liberal outlet.

It was told by the Pentagon.

It would be best to remember to utilize the internet and do your own research.

    I did -- did you?

You already know why these things about Trump and three of his alleged balloons that he supposedly missed. The following video explains this perfectly.

I read those "sources" and the only thing I can say is that their CYA
reporting is what could be expected. I believe the current report from
the Pentagon as being unbiased. The truth is that either Trump knew
about them and did nothing, OR he was not aware of them. Both
possibilities do not speak well for him.

Even John Bolton, who seemingly has a bad case of TDS, agrees with Tr that "it never happened" under the Trump administration.

Trump has been discredited. By multiple (credible) news sources.

News sources? There's no "news source" that cancels out news from the former National Security Advisor.

    So don't worry. Be happy.

I do not agree with your analysis whatsoever for several reasons but the biggest reason is because it is a nameless source.
The video that I shared was from Fox Business, which had names like John Bolton which was not exactly a fan of Donald Trump and even he refuted your narrative and speculation that your repeating from the woke liberal media. It never happened.

The ONLY reason why the Dems are stating it happened under Trump is because Biden handled this so badly. If Trump let this travel from Montana to any state (little alone the all the way to the coast of South Carolina you would be screaming for Trumps head on a wooden post - of course along with demanding that he be impeached.

If there were alleged second incursions that the President was not informed about how the hell would that be his fault if his was not informed.
I know you want so badly to be correct, but your not being remotely logical with suggesting that this was his fault even though the man was NEVER notified for alleged seconds long incursions. To my point President Trump did not allow the a Chinese Spy Balloon traverse across the country from Montana to the coast of South Carolina.

I will tell you something else if they wanted to shoot it down over water then why wasn't this Chinese Spy Balloon shot down off the coast of Alaska which is also over water.

I think you should give up defending Biden, it is quite clear that the difficulty will only increase. Very soon it could be nearly impossible.

Sweeping stuff under the rug and pretending it never happened does
not "cancel out news" of what actually happened.

The Huffington Post, Bloomberg News, and other credible sources,
have posted articles discrediting Trump's bogus claims that no weather
balloons entered US airspace suring his watch. So why should anybody
    believe any of Trump's lies?

    So don't worry. Be happy.

Thanks, but I'm worried! Joe is seriously selling us to China.

Their weather balloon was blown up by a missile and is now at the
bottom of the sea. No more red balloons flying over the USA. Quite
unlike the number of them that flew over, undetected according to
your orange god, under the Trump administration ...

    Need further proof?

The video of an F-22 fighter jet taking out the weather balloon
with a medium-range missile was shown live to a nationwide audience ...

Just watch: he'll be "reprimanding China" in some stupid insignificant
    way real soon,

One medium-range missile was all it took.

just to make idiots think that he's actually punishing them.

With no casualties on the ground, or at sea, anywhere.

    Hello Mike,

Did you hear the news that the balloon has been shot down over coast
of South Carolina, but Biden's response seems to have changed. He
    said
that he told the Pentagon days ago that he authorized shooting it
    down.

And so it was, once it was safe to do so.

It was safe to do so over Montana, too. It was very safe to do so when it was over Alaska, which our government knew about but we didn't because no civilians had seen it at that point. They also knew about it when it was between the Allutian Islands and mainland Alaska.

Why wait until it had already crossed the whole country or, worse, until something happened to it that caused it to fall over a densly-populated area
    on its own?

BECAUSE REAL PEOPLE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED BY FALLING DEBRIS.
AS EXPLAINED BY OUR COMMANDER IN CHIEF. WHICH THANK GOD IS NOT YOU.
