Hello Everybody,
The Electoral College is a process, not an actual vote
by electors who choose the next president. Be that as it
may, it is always fun to do the math in some kind of vain
effort to find out who will be declared the "winner".
Let's take a look at the upcoming contest between the
presumed Republican nominee, Donald Trump, and whoever
the Democrats decide to put up against him.
Electoral votes Donald Trump already has in the bag - 204
Electoral votes the Democratic nominee has in the bag - 228
Electoral votes needed to claim victory - 270
What this means is that Donald Trump needs 66 more EV to win.
And the Democratic nominee needs only 42 more EV to win.
Here are the states that are too close to call, with # of EV -
Florida 29
Pennsylvania 20
Michigan 16
North Carolina 15
Arizona 11
Wisconsin 10
New Hampshire 4
That is a total of 106 electoral votes up for grabs.
By grabbing Florida and either Pennsylvania, Michigan, or North
Carolina, the Democratic nominee can claim victory, no matter what
Donald Trump does. Even without Florida, the Democratic nominee
can win by grabbing three of those seven states.
Donald Trump can win by claiming three of the top four states.
Without Florida and Pennsylvania, he would need everything else.
That is why the man from Scranton will be our next President.
