    Hello Everybody,

The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind.
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

    With apologies to Bob Dylan.

How many times must I redraw this map
Before I get 'Bama in the zone?
And, how can I make those reporters believe
The 'Bama coast was always in the cone?

The answer is in: the Sharpie is my friend.
My Sharpie can make the cone extend!

And, how many people were really on the Mall
To watch me as I raised my tiny hand?
They had aerial pix and such, but those can be retouched
Sharpie makes things turn out just the way I planned.

The Sharpie's my friend; on Sharpie I depend.
My Sharpie can make the truth bend!

    [attributed to Atticus]

    Hello Sean,

My Sharpie can make the truth bend!

    So that's why Creepy Sleepy Uncle Joe's eye suddenly filled with blood;
he tried to draw on it himself and instead poked himself in the eye ... and promptly praised President Hump.

I do not believe the former vice president would use a pseudonym
like "Atticus" to write such a parody of Bob Dylan's song.

Biden's gaffes are getting better and worse at the same time. The dementia is setting on pretty fast...

Biden has made several gaffes during the course of his long career
in politics. But he always owned up to them, apologizing and then
    moving on.

What we have is a president who has clearly lost it. NOAA had
never claimed Hurricane Dorian posed a threat to Alabama. The map
shown by Trump was a doctored map, and not credible. Rather than
owning up to his mistake, Trump dug himself deeper into the hole
he dug, falsely claiming the same thing he had previously stated.
He did so at least 14 times, on camera, for all to see.

That is why he is the butt of everybody's jokes. And not just
    late night comedians.

    (Apologies to no one)

If the president wants to be taken seriously (by anybody other
than sycophants) he is going to have to learn how to tell the truth.

You could say that about any president from either side of the aisle.

Besides, the way the left is going about, the pen, er, Sharpie is mightier than
    the sword.

I mean, really ... if the IPCC can falsify data and change it to fit their dystopian and false narrative of so-called "man-made" climate change, why can't
Trump just draw a little circle and call it as he sees it? After all, meteorology is nothing but educated guesses and Trump made a rather uneducated one. If Obama had done that, you'd have a thrill down your leg and be bleating

Note I'm not excusing Trump but I am pointing out your grandstanding offense to

Not like Trump, who has told over 12,000 whoppers to date (The

No mention of Obama, I'm sure.

Of course not. Obama is perfect. Like George Washington, never
told a lie. Stretched the truth a few times, but never lied ...

After all, the Washington Post is a bastion of truth and honor, heh.

I loved their series about The Pentagon Papers. Congress bought
it all up. And then Nixon told the world, "I am not a crook!"

Trump has taken things to a new level, ordering folks at NOAA to lie
    for him.

Much like Obama and the ATF with its illegal gun running operation.
    Unlike
Trump's faux pas, people died with Obama. No mention of that, huh?

Having a government agency lie for you is an abuse of power.
Had Obama done anything even close to that, Republicans would
have been screaming bloody murder. But he didn't. So now
Republicans are jealous and want everything Obama did repealed
or done away with. Regardless of how much hurt it does to
    the American people.

Making stuff up and then ordering others to lie for him is what
the president did. It is an abuse of power, and can be considered
    an impeachable offense.

LOL, you lefties and "impeachment". Clinton was impeached; a lot of good
    it
    did the country, right?

Sure, Clinton was impeached. For getting a blowjob from a White
House intern. While that might be a sin (according to some), it
was not illegal. He also went on national television, telling
the American people "I did not have sexual relations with that
    woman, Ms. Lewinski!"

Which is why the Senate exonerated him, acquitting him of all
charges brought forth by Republicans in the House.

Obama did the same damn thing

When did Obama ever change an official NOAA chart with a sharpie
or order people from a government agency to lie for him in order
to cover up his own fuckup?

and not a peep from you but then again, Obama is your messiah. Still.

Nah. Like all former presidents, Obama is retired from politics.
But not to worry. America will soon have a new messiah ...

Trump used a sharpie to change an official NOAA chart.
Then he ordered others to lie for him after being ridiculed
    by the news media.

See my paragraph about Obama and the ATF.

When was Obama ever charged with a crime? Or even investigated
for what you claim he did? Should we do with him what Trump wants
to do with Hillary? Just lock him up, based only on his say-so?

Obama is not an idiot, like what we have today.

He isn't? Wow, I guess you really have selective ignorance, right?

My bad. I should have written "unlike what we have today."

But then again, if the president isn't a drooling, knuckle-dragging, hive-minded liberal, then you lefties can't handle it. :D

Lefties can handle anything and everything. Elizabeth Warren
said so last night, in comments to Chris Matthews after the Democratic
debate. But then, she has a plan. She has a plan for everything.

Elizabeth Warren might have, as she has a plan for everything, but
she knew better than to do it publicly. However, I must admit she
most likely would have cited Massachusetts rather than Alabama ...

LOL, "might have"? She has a DNA test to prove she lied. There's a
    reason
why she's called "Fauxahontas" for a reason.

While she was stupid to have taken a DNA test, and make the results
public, it did prove she did have some Native American ancestry.

I do not recall any president other than Trump who has done such
a thing. Nixon was too paranoid, and would have fired folks before
making such a ridiculous claim ...

Let's see, Obama, Bush, Clinton...they all have pulled similar but much worse stunts.

Getting a blow job by a White House intern may be immoral, but
maybe his wife let him do it. Or maybe they have an open marriage,
with each of them doing their own thing. Whatever a president
does in his/her own bedroom is his/her own business, not ours.

You want to say he lied about sex, claiming that is an impeachable
offense? Republicans in the House did. The Senate acquitted him of
that nonsense. And so did the rest of America.

When Clinton lied (according to Republicans), nobody died.

When Bush lied (according to everybody), thousands died.

When Trump lies, all of America dies.

I can refresh your memory if need be but I don't think you'd listen to me.

Trump doubled down at least 14 times claiming he was right and
everybody else was wrong. Talk about a person in denial ...

Much like Obama and his "climate change" bull.

We experience climate change every day, in Louisiana.

Heck, even today, the left and some of the RINO right are pushing
    "man-made
climate change" when there's not enough data to prove the point...

There are parts of Louisiana that no longer exist but are now
open water. Used to be land twenty years ago with houses and people.
Another twenty to thirty years and there will be no more New Orleans.

talk about millions in denial yet millions of dollars blown on fake science...

Fake science? You want to take a little boat ride? I'll
show you around on what used to be dry land ...

Climate change is definitely real and it happens. However, "man-made"
climate change is a load of crap. We still don't have enough accurate
(keyword here) data in a wide enough sample as we humans are but a tiny
second of existance in the earth's 4.5 billion year-plus existance.

Even the IPCC admits that some of its data have been made up to "fill in"
gaps that no one can account for.

Let's be honest here: all it'd take is one good volcano eruption, a la the "supercaldera" in Yellowstone, or the Ring of Fire getting suddenly very
active and we humans would disappear like so much rain after a storm in the
    hot sun.

There was climate change before we arrived on the scene and there will be climate change after we leave. However, I believe humans are pretty
arrogant to think they're masters of Mother Nature. We're constantly
    reminded that we're not.

No, he was impeached for "high crimes and misdemeanors", on 2 counts -
    lying
under oath and obstruction of justice.

As defined by House Republicans, (i.e. a blowjob).
He was acquitted on all counts by the Senate. So the
impeachment itself was, in effect, meaningless.

Which is why the Senate exonerated him, acquitting him of all
charges brought forth by Republicans in the House.

We don't know why he was acquitted, as the sessions were closed.

Impeachment is an accusation. Those who charged the president
with having committed a crime(s) did not have a case.

The vote however was public, with republicans joining the vote against
    with
    the democrats.

There were never enough votes to convict. The reason why he
was brought to trial was pure politics, not for anything criminal
he may or may not have done. When Clinton left office after
having served for eight years, he did so with the highest job
approval rating of any president in history.

How kind of job approval rating do you think the current president
will have when he finishes his one term in office?

The folks that I discuss this with seem to all agree that climate change is real; where they diverge is
on what is the primary cause and how much mankind is impacting it. I have heard folks rattle off
good points on both sides but the most compelling point I have heard was this:

To survive long term mankind is going to have to find another place to live outside of our solar
system as one day in the very distant future it will not exist. The closest places we could get to are
100 million light years away or more so its unlike that we will be leaving our solar system. Given
that we should be looking at the planet and factors that could make it uninhabitable in the future.
The issue is everything costs money and someone way smarter than me needs to figure out what
we need to do and how much we can afford to do.

exactly! mother nature is going to do what mother nature wants in her
own time regardless of what anyone else thinks or wants...

The folks that I discuss this with seem to all agree that climate
    change is real;

it absolutely is... one only need look at history...

where they diverge is on what is the primary cause

    mother nature...

and how much mankind is impacting it.

*that* is the real question... there simply is not enough data available, though...

some data was recorded and updated over time way back at some point... mechanisms for measurement got better and more accurate... as such numbers to adjusted and more data recorded... the industrial revolution came along and a lot more data was recorded and of course it was going to show a rise... as measurement mechanisms got better, more details came out and more data was recorded... this is still ongoing...

a comparison would be communications... back in the day, a runner went from village to village carrying news... then it was a rider on horseback... then trains... someone came up with electrical transmission and that enabled more news to travel faster... look at elections and how communications affected them... the more communications available and the faster news traveled, the more folks could learn and base their decisions on... there was also misinformation even back then... now look at today's world with almost instantaneous world-wide communications and look how fast news and misinformation spread... extrapolate from there and look at how this also affects world climate monitoring...

I have heard folks rattle off good points on both sides but the most compelling point I have heard was this:

To survive long term mankind is going to have to find another place to live

    agreed...

    outside of our solar system

in the distant future, i can easily see this as humanity grows and expands... hopefully it won't be like it has been here on earth with a lot of wars and killing... but that's a big hope seeing as how people act today...

as one day in the very distant future it will not exist.

true... our sun will go nova at some point but will humanity even exist at that
time or will it have killed itself off long before then...

The closest places we could get to are 100 million light years away or more so its unlike that we will be leaving our solar system.

sounds like someone just throwing numbers out there... 4ly and 12ly are the current possibilities... but even so, with our current technology, it'll take thousands of years and generation ships to get there... look at our Voyager craft just recently getting into interstellar space and outside of the solar system envelope... they've been flying for 42 years... in that time there have been 2 or 3 generations here on earth... using current technology, it is projected to take 54400 earth years to reach proxima centauri, 4ly distant... using 30 years as the "count" of a generation, that's 1800+ generations... imagine how things change here on earth and then look at how much they could change on a generation ship...

Given that we should be looking at the planet and factors that could
make it uninhabitable in the future. The issue is everything costs
money and someone way smarter than me needs to figure out what we need
to do and how much we can afford to do.

true but that's also the fault of greed... if everyone pooled their resources it could be done without screwing around with $$$ but everyone has to get to that point... utopia i think it is called but... i can't help but to look at the sphere of humanity as depicted in our science fiction and noting how money,
credits, chits, etc are not a factor... you don't see folks on a starship complaining about not being able to afford things...

back to your statement about cleaning up out atmosphere: i read an article recently where someone is building carbon removal plants... they, in simple terms, filter the air and pull out the greenhouse gasses to store them in similar fashion as the trees, plants, and oceans have done for millennia long before humanity came along and started removing those living filters and spewing the carbon and greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere faster than it could be filtered out... IF this technology can be embraced, employed faster, and works as desired, we may well be able to help our planet... but then i cannot help but to look at other science fiction which relates planets with these technologies in full use and they still have unlivable atmospheres...

it is absolutely a delicate balance and greed is the enemy at the base... we can see this today with environmental restrictions being removed and once protected areas are now open for exploitation and destruction with no repercussions or rehabilitation requirements...

    same same :)

People don't realize that the Earth is not a static system. It's a very dynamic system and is constantly changing without humankind's input. I was actually going to ETSU for a degree in geoscience but the political bullshit was so bad I dropped out after a year and went back into IT.

    Later,
