I have a laptop from 2011, it seems that when I tried to install a ssd on i it never perfectly booted where I ended up having to install its origial ha drive instead. :(
I've serviced many laptops and seen this behavior happen with a few
different laptop brands. The Sata controller may not work correctly with SSD's. The most common symptoms are not being able to partition the drive or write a boot sector despite the drive showing up in the BIOS.
